Privacy policy
CrankHog collects nothing about you.
Effective 2 October 2026. Applies to the Mac app, the iPhone app and the web app.
What stays on your device
Your rides, workouts, routes, journeys, FTP history, profile (name, photo, weight, heart-rate zones) and settings are stored only on your Mac, iPhone or browser. Every ride is also saved as a FIT file on the same device. CrankHog has no accounts, no servers that hold your data, no analytics, no tracking and no ads.
Bluetooth
CrankHog uses Bluetooth only to connect to your smart trainer, heart-rate strap and other cycling sensors, so it can set the resistance and record your ride. Nothing about your devices leaves your device.
Things you choose to connect
Nothing is sent anywhere unless you set it up yourself:
- Strava or intervals.icu (Mac app): when you connect your account, finished rides are uploaded to it. Your keys and tokens are kept in your Mac's keychain.
- AI coaching (Mac app): if you add an API key for Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI or a local Ollama, the rides you ask about are sent to that provider to answer you. Their own privacy policies apply.
- Bug reports: the report form opens a GitHub issue in your browser with the details you can see and edit. Nothing is sent unless you submit it on GitHub.
Maps
Journey maps are drawn from road data that ships inside the app (© OpenStreetMap contributors). Riding a journey doesn't contact any map service. If you turn on "Map on Strava", the virtual route is written into that ride's FIT file and uploaded with it.
Children
CrankHog isn't aimed at children. It collects no data from anyone, of any age.
